When Kevin Labayen died in 2014, hearts were broken and lives were changed. Everyone who knew Kevin would agree that the news of his passing was unbelievable. It’s difficult to grasp that a person with a personality as large as Kevin’s was no longer around. His laughter was endless, personality was timeless – he was easily anybody’s sunshine on a cloudy day.

Kevin was the type of person who knew everyone. If someone may have been a stranger to you, they were most likely a friend to Kevin. Kevin always carried with him an overabundance of love. Many will remember him for his wild dance moves, hilarious snap chat pictures, and karaoke singing. Others will remember playing basketball outside with him and being on the field for his winning touchdown. Some will remember playing video games with him at home and having the best soundtrack to listen to on a drive in his car.

Kevin had friends in many facets of life—he leaves behind a variety of memories. But despite where they had first met him, everyone will remember Kevin for his acceptance—his love of other human beings and his strong desire to embrace life in the most positive light. Let’s take the time to all come together and celebrate our sunshine.

On Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 8:00 a.m., the 5th annual Kevin Labayen Memorial Flag Football Tournament will take place at the Marlboro Recreational Center. Come spend the afternoon and evening playing a sport that Kevin loved while also raising money for the Play to Win Foundation. Let us all enjoy a day of love, smiles, and fun on the field to remember and honor our very first Flyin’ Labayen.
